All of the members of the Bellarine Taste Trail welcome you to come and sample our products: sip our many and varied wines, stay in our suites and B&Bs, taste our farmgate produce, try our boutique beers and enjoy our hospitality at the many cafes and restaurants. Ask us about what we do, how we do it and why we love it.
We love living and producing on the Bellarine and we want you to experience the best it has to offer. That's why we've joined together to bring you a great choice of epicurean encounters, just a 90-minute drive from Victoria's capital city, Melbourne.
Check out the Taste Trail map to see at a glance all the members spread over the Bellarine Peninsula - you'll see that there are lots of options for weekend getaways to enjoy all the good things in life. Turn it over and you'll see we've listed all the Taste Trail members, with their opening times and contact details.
A great way to get an introduction to the Taste Trail is to take a tour - let a local take you to all their favourite places! Tours can be built to visit your choice of wineries and even some farmgates as well. Or you can self-drive around the region, working to your own schedule and preferences.
We've provided some sample itineraries for different scenarios and there are a large number of packages offered by providers. There are lots of different ways to enjoy the taste trail, whether you're a family with young kids, a posse of girls after a fun getaway or a couple of lovebirds wanting romance - or any other permutation or configuration!
It's not just our cafes and restaurants that take great delight in sharing our local produce. On the Taste Trail we have a number of provedores stocking local produce and supporting small producers. Just like you take an empty suitcase on a shopping trip, you'd better bring the esky and some freezer blocks so you can safely bring home those perishables that you couldn't resist (such as Drysdale goats cheese) in good condition.
On the Taste Trail we have award-winning wineries, restaurants and cafes and award-winning accommodation providers. Queenscliff in particular is rich with history and all destinations on the Bellarine are great for marine adventures and outdoor activities, especially cycling on our off-road bike paths and golf.
Icons of the Taste Trail are the well-known businesses and the special produce that people identify with the Bellarine - places and things that they make a special effort to come and visit or try. Our icons include the Vue Grand Hotel in Queenscliff, At the Heads Restaurant in Barwon Heads, Elk Horn Roadhouse in Wallington, Loam in Drysdale and the produce of Drysdale Cheeses, Portarlington mussels, abalone and Tuckerberry Hill blueberries.
The Bellarine's many highlights range from our award-winning restaurants and wineries to our historic lighthouses, our fresh and local seafood, our great weekend markets, our festivals, the legendary Blues Train and not to forget how close we are to Melbourne, the Surf Coast and the Great Ocean Road.
So don't wait any longer! Explore this site, book your next mini-break or holiday on the Bellarine and come enjoy our Taste Trail!
